| Received a Ph.D. in experimental physics from Case Western Reserve University in 1990 where he pioneered the deposition, characterization and application of Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings for computer hard disk applications (research funded by Digital Equipment Corp.). 1990-92 Dr. Chen worked at the Center for Microelectronics and Optical Materials at the University of Nebraska. 1993-96 Chen continued research on wide band gap semiconductors at York University in Toronto, Canada. Since 1996, Dr. Chen has been working in several subfields of experimental materials physics at General Vacuum. In the area of protective environmental control coatings, he developed an amorphous carbon coating on X-Ray targets for General Electric Medical Systems and DLC coatings on germanium for IR windows used by the U.S. Marine Corps. In the emerging field of low pressure CVD diamond, he is developing field emission devices and photoelectron multiplier tubes. He is a member of the American Physical Society and The Society of Information Display. Email: hchen@genvac.com |
